2026-11-01 - i swear, microsoft wants me to use linux
-----------------------

the thing is, i need windows from time to time, because some game tools i use frequently work best there, and some reverse engineer tools are taylor-made for windows. but the more i use ubuntu and the more i learn about it, the more i keep thinking to myself - why using windows at all?

and microsoft seems to think that too! today, i tried to switch of the real time protection for error hunting. it wouldn't work. it just switched back immediately. a little powershell magic later revealed: nope, everything works fine, microsoft just wants to put me through hell because i'd love to use MY machine that I paid MY MONEY for the way that I want to use it.

i swear, this kind of anti-customer behavior is not getting enough attention at all. it starts with some system folders i can't even open (not without some workaround and mr-robot-like hacking) and ends with reverting all changes i made with every new update - almost belittlelingly smiling down on me, 'oh, you probably did it by mistake, here, let me just fix that for you.'. go to hell.

the best advertisement for linux is not Linus Torvalds, but microsoft windows.
